The Silent Patient

Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening her husband Gabriel returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face, and then never speaks another word.

Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety. The price of her art skyrockets, and she, the silent patient, is hidden away from the tabloids and spotlight at the Grove, a secure forensic unit in North London.

Theo Faber is a criminal psychotherapist who has waited a long time for the opportunity to work with Alicia. His determination to get her to talk and unravel the mystery of why she shot her husband takes him down a twisting path into his own motivations—a search for the truth that threatens to consume him...

This is an amazing book with a huge plot twist at the end that I never saw coming. It is beautifully written and an enchanting story. I really liked this book. 9/10 stars. I'm trying to convey how good it was without any spoilers, but it is not going so well. I know that this is a badly written review, but what I hope to convey is that this is an amazing book, and that even if it is a bit long, it is definitely worth the read.

Wow! Definitely a good read. Insane plot twist as well. Throughout the novel i was continually guessing at what the end result would be but to my surprise it was NOTHING as I imagined. I am a little upset with the ending as I feel there could have been a longer explanation as opposed to a longer middle point of the story....although I appreciate how we got the answers we were searching for. I also got confused with the end as the answers come to life of the timelines presented. Maybe it was just me but it just would have been better if there was a better explanation of what referred to which time period...although i suppose that was the point to enhance the final result of the reader discovering everything. Idk I’m confused lol. Nonetheless it is definitely a good read I would recommend. Maybe it was just me who felt off about it. 7/10

Having read way too many good reviews of the book, i started with such high expectations , but was little bit disappointed in the end to know the twist, This was mainly because i could guess the killer and i beleived no this cant be the one m there has to be some twist , this was because i have read a similar book by a very famous author on the same line and i believe that is the original one. I cant reveal the name since it would be unjustice to the readers of that book .

Loved the last sentence. Hits differently. Shows how much fucked up people could turn out to be despite having the purest hearts but haven been raised in the worst environment.
